The Trout Bum organization is composed of students from Syracuse University’s School of Environmental Science & Forestry (ESF). In collaboration with Carpenter’s Brook Fish Hatchery and their university professors, these students are able to put classroom learning into action. What is unique about the Trout Bums is that they are specifically set up as a volunteer group in order to offer their knowledge and skills to the community (and in particular, the Hatchery) above and beyond the above mentioned collaboration. One of the groups they help out on a regular basis is the Friends of Carpenter’s Brook. We very much appreciate all that they do for us and hosted a picnic to thank them.
